October 22: a game update

Rare’s October 7, 2026 briefing schedules Outfit Saving for the October 22 update, letting players store an ensemble in the Clothing Chest. Golden Sands returns as a Legendary Location in Custom Seas, rather than being announced as an Adventure-world replacement.

October 23–26: community progress and personal unlocks

Season 21 Community Weekend is scheduled for October 23–26. Watching Sea of Thieves streams on Twitch contributes to the Community Emissary Grade; Grade 5 offers rewards at 2.5 times the normal rate. Logging in grants the event flag and a Voyage of Wild Luck.

Posting trick-or-treat maps to the Quest Board contributes to community goals. Completing Board maps earns the Pocket Pumpkin Emote personally. Twitch Drops run on the same dates.

October 27–November 3: check what you keep

Festival of the Damned follows October 27–November 3. Its Bucket of Confections Emote is temporary; the Soulflame Mask is permanent. Wearing the mask at an active Fort of the Damned enables Soulflame Skeleton encounters, with Doubloons awarded to everyone on the island when those skeletons are destroyed. The briefing does not specify start or end times or timezones.

Our analysis: plan around the requirement

This calendar mixes persistent features, a shared reward multiplier and personal event tasks. Saving an outfit belongs to the first group; raising a community grade is not the same as completing a map for your own emote. Keep those goals separate when arranging a session with friends.

Likewise, Golden Sands sightseeing requires choosing Custom Seas, while a festival reward can involve a contested Fort. A login reward is the least demanding commitment; a challenge reward needs the stated activity. Check Rare’s Events Hub for live requirements and precise boundaries before planning a last-minute session. We have not independently completed these events.
