Mario Kart World’s October Open runs October 17–18. Here’s how qualification works.

When and how to enter

Nintendo schedules the October Open from October 17 at 2pm Pacific to October 18 at 6pm Pacific. For New York players, that is 5pm EDT Saturday through 9pm EDT Sunday.

In Mario Kart World, open Online Play, press the minus button to search for an event and enter Event ID 4450. A Switch 2, the game, a Nintendo Account, internet access and Nintendo Switch Online membership are required.

The race format

The listed rules use 150cc VS Race, no teams, normal items, no computer racers and connected course selection, with up to 32 races.

Eligible participants in the Americas can claim fifty My Nintendo Platinum Points, expected to be available on or around October 27 Pacific time.

Participation and qualification are different

The event is a qualifier for December’s North American Fall Cup. The official championship rules restrict eligibility by country and age, so the broader participation reward should not be confused with championship eligibility. Read those rules before planning around a potential qualification result.

Qualification: country, age and the next message

The Fall Cup rules require legal residence and physical presence in the United States, Canada or Mexico during participation. The minimum age is 13 in the United States and Canada, or 18 in Mexico. The 24 highest-ranked eligible players in each qualifier may advance to the December 12, 2026 championship, subject to verification. A tied score favors the player who reached it first.

Potential qualifiers are contacted through the email linked to their Nintendo Account within ten business days after the event; the initial recipients must respond within five days. Our practical advice is to check that inbox and the official rules after racing. A high leaderboard position alone does not complete verification. For players outside the championship territories, keep the separate Americas participation reward in view. As checked on October 15, 2026, the October Open is still upcoming: its announced entry window has not ended.
