The takeawayThe September 24, 2026 briefing said Phase One was nearing submission. No later release was established in our October 15 source check.

What the September briefing said

Re-Logic’s September 24 State of the Game says teams are putting finishing touches on Crossplay Phase One alongside fixes remaining from 1.4.5.8. It expects submission in the near future, with Phase Two intended to follow as soon as possible.

The briefing does not give a firm release day for either phase. Its discussion of Terraria 1.4.6 and crossplay is a development update, so a reader should not treat the article date as the feature’s launch date.

Modded Terraria follows another track

The tModLoader section describes continuing work on a 1.4.5 preview branch and adapting the game’s recent code changes. It says the work toward that release will still take months.

That separation matters when organizing a group: progress in the base game’s crossplay plan does not automatically establish mod compatibility or an identical tModLoader release schedule.

Our analysis: plan a group around a version, not a headline

Before organizing a cross-platform evening, write down each player’s device, installed game version and whether the session uses mods. Then compare those details with the eventual release notes for the relevant phase. This is a preparation checklist, not confirmation that any particular pair of platforms can currently connect. The September 24, 2026 briefing does not establish that compatibility matrix.

The distinction matters because submission, release and successful connection answer separate questions. A developer can finish work before a platform distributes it, and a base-game announcement cannot settle whether a particular mod setup works. For a continuing world, keep an ordinary backup before changing versions or branches. The tModLoader preview is a development track; calling it a preview preserves the uncertainty that the team itself describes. The sensible trigger for scheduling a session is a documented, matching setup, rather than the phrase “near future.”
