Season 07 targets December
Ghost Ship’s September 29, 2026 announcement targets December 2026 for Season 07, Contingency Protocol. The studio labels the preview work in progress. Plans include about 20 secondary-weapon Overclocks, 11 new perks and reworked existing perks.
Perk Maintenance is planned alongside Perk Proficiency slots: after all perks are unlocked, surplus points can buy very small baseline stat buffs. Tattoos and traversal-tool paintjobs are also planned, along with a gravity-related event recovering Memory Cores from crashed Drop Pods.
Free season, paid expansion
Season 07 includes a free Performance Pass. Season 08 is planned for summer 2027 alongside an extensive gameplay expansion. The season remains free; the expansion costs money. Ghost Ship says free content updates will continue. It has not disclosed a precise launch day, expansion price or full feature list in this announcement.
Our analysis: two different progression problems
The perk plan addresses both choice and accumulated currency. More perks can broaden build options; somewhere to put surplus points matters primarily to players who have already exhausted the existing unlocks. That distinction explains why a veteran may care about the maintenance and proficiency systems even before choosing a new perk.
The reveal does not quantify the small baseline buffs or establish how quickly players will earn them. Until those details arrive, it would be premature to describe a final progression grind or claim that a particular build will dominate.
Likewise, a free seasonal pass and paid gameplay expansion require separate judgments. An existing player can expect the announced seasonal track without assuming the DLC is included. “Summer 2027” is the studio’s stated window, not an exact global release date. We have not played the preview, and both scope and timing remain plans.
