The takeawayRegister for the PS5 technical alpha; do not mistake the test dates for the full console launch.

A test window, not a release date

Squad is heading to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Offworld announced on October 15. The first public step is a free PS5 technical alpha scheduled for October 16–25. Players need to register through the developer’s alpha website; this announcement does not put the finished console game on sale today.

The preview focuses on Gorodok, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the People’s Liberation Army contest a rail line. Offworld has not announced the full console launch date. Its FAQ describes the test as an opportunity to help check an unfinished build.

Crossplay comes with defined boundaries

The planned console edition supports up to 100 players in PvP and five in Fireteam PvE. PlayStation and Xbox crossplay will be optional. PC participation is described through eligible community servers using the console ruleset, rather than unrestricted access to every existing PC server.

There is no cross-progression. A PC purchase does not include a console copy, and console mods will not be available at launch. Those limits matter if your current squad already shares a modded PC server or expects cosmetics to follow an account.

What PC players can claim now

Steam owners also have a limited-time Recon Team Pack offer tied to the test. Offworld says the pack is free to claim before October 25 and includes five woodland weapon-skin designs for the USMC faction, with some also usable by the US Army.
