The takeawayThe October 12 patch restores Metasound’s default path; its fixes target specific failure cases rather than guarantee every mod or save.

Why audio mods were affected

Coffee Stain’s October 12, 2026 notes for Satisfactory 1.2.4.1 re-enable Audio Routing so Metasound works by default again. The previous patch had disabled that path, preventing some audio mods from working. The studio says the restoration should preserve modders’ interim workarounds, but that wording is an expectation, not a compatibility guarantee.

The developer also restores Engine.ini to its original state to avoid potential issues with versions created by the previous patch. It identifies its internal Wwise version as 2025.1.6. That middleware number should not be confused with the game’s 1.2.4.1 version.

Which failures the notes identify

The fixes cover nearby signs becoming blank when a save loads, an audio/Wwise freeze on consoles and an audio callback crash when quitting. Two Conveyor Throughput Monitor cases are separate: aiming at a belt after one of several attached monitors was dismantled, and placing a monitor on a belt on a dedicated server.

Our analysis: reproduce the action, not just the symptom

A report that says “monitor crash” loses an important distinction. Dismantling an existing device and placing a new one exercise different actions, and the dedicated-server qualifier matters. When checking your own factory, record which action still fails and whether the game is hosted locally or on a server.

The same caution applies to mods: a restored engine path can resolve the documented regression without proving that every audio extension now works. Keep the game version, mod list and affected save together when reporting a remaining problem through Coffee Stain’s QA site. We have not run these reproductions or certified any mod setup.
